Thanks to CrowdFlower, San Francisco Video Producer Learns #RichData
Okay: besides travel and getting to work with a lot of smart, engaging people, picking up interesting information that I can share at cocktail parties is another perk to being a San Francisco video producer.
Take the #RichDataSummit that Patina Pictures filmed for CrowdFlower. The Rich Data Summit, held in downtown San Francisco in October of 2015, focused on turning big data into rich, meaningful data. For those that aren’t data scientist, that might seem like a drag, right?
Wrong. Whoever tries to promote anything on social media– which is everyone I know! – might be interested in learning about their competition.
Did you know that there are
- 1,041,666 Vine loops uploaded per minute
- 300 hours of video uploaded to YouTube per minute
- 694,444 swipes on Tinder per minute
- 48,611 photos on Instagram posted per minute
- 17,361 profile views on LinkedIn per minute
- 347,222 tweets on Twitter per minute
- 31.25 million Facebook messages per minute (and the kids say Facebook is for old people??!)

I also learned that every time you stay at a hotel, or spend some internet downtime at Starbucks, and click the “YES: I agree to your terms of use” button, you’re actually agreeing to share ALL of your social media information with said organization. Want to learn more? Check out this breakout session: Can Crowdsourcing and Data Privacy Coexist.
I also learned how Obama won his first presidential race in 2008, not solely due to policy, but because he hired a data scientist and knew exactly which communities he needed to target in order to tip the votes in his direction. Don’t believe me? Check out this breakout session: Analytic Enrichment in the Wild.
And while you’re at it, check out the two sizzle reels Patina Pictures put together for this conference. One with a more #CrowdFlower focus, the other with a more #RichData focus.
Book your seat for next year’s conference, after the success of this year’s there won’t be any open seats.
