(Because We Aren’t Your Everyday Bay Area Creative Video Agency)
In this four part blog series, we’re taking you behind the scenes and sharing this Bay Area creative video agency’s production tips and tricks unlike those shared before.
Today, we focus on Event Video. Whether you want to inspire your audience, get them to sit down, or register– there’s an event video for that! But it’s not just about the videos playing at your event. From just one day of filming, multiple videos can be created out of your event coverage. Videos such as:
- Social Media Clips
- Lead Generation Tools
- Speaker Hooks for Executive Staff
- Candid Customer Testimonials
- Success Videos for the Board and/or Internal Teams
And, of course, a Video Sizzle for your next event!
Whether you’re in the Bay Area or not, getting great on-the-ground event coverage requires a creative video agency or small production team that’s nimble and savvy in the way of documentary style filming. And employing some of these tips doesn’t hurt either:
Stay Mobile: Hire a steadicam operator. That’s right, a man who wears the camera. Not only can you gain access to many shots where time or space would otherwise prohibit, but also the movement in those steadicam shots can be manipulated in post to make any event look amazingly sexy.
Capture the Transitions: When capturing b-roll (no sound, just action) the most active, and therefore interesting, moments during a keynote presentation are the transitions. What are transitions? They’re the moment the speaker walks on stage, waves at the audience, shakes hands with the emcee, and delivers their introductory sentence. If you’ve hired a steadicam, have them pick up all your transitions. Perhaps even have them follow one of your presenters on stage, if everyone feels comfortable. The shots you’ll get will be worth the hassle!
Film Man-on-the-Street Interviews: These are random, unscientific samplings of opinion, gathered by stopping people at your event and asking them to comment or share their opinion. In other words, they are spontaneous marketing gems that would never come out in a formal interview. These interviews can be easily captured with two cameras, a hand held mic, and two producers– one to ask the questions, the other to pull people in from the crowd. We suggest asking fairly easy questions, such as “What was your biggest take away?” or “What are you most looking forward to during this event?”
The 24-Hour Turnaround: There’s no better way to get your audience involved, then immersing them into your brand. If you’ve already sprung for event coverage, and you’re capturing man-on-the-street interviews, then why not go the extra mile and have a preview of that footage cut together within 24 hours so that it can open the conference the next day. Audience members love seeing themselves on camera. It is, by far, the best Walk In video. Which is to say, it’s the best way to get your audience to shut up, and take their seats.
