San Francisco Video Production Company Spends Time in New York City
Have you ever wondered what happens between the time you upload your design to Shapeways and the time it magically appears at your door? Well, the design community behind 3D manufacturer Shapeways did, and that’s when they turned to Patina Pictures, a video production company in San Francisco.
Shapeways wanted to take their designers behind the scenes of their Long Island City factory so they could better understand the production process when designing for 3D printing. But after spending six days talking to their employees and designers, in their factory and in their New York City headquarters, it was obvious to us that we weren’t simply going to produce a series of educational videos. No way. The company and community behind Shapeways oozes creativity and innovation. I’m almost certain the ability to push boundaries is pumped into their water cooler. I knew we had to deliver an educational message in a way that was fresh, inspiring and accessible.
“Shapeways has an extremely complex story to tell and we had very lofty goals of telling it both educationally and inspirationally. It was overwhelming to think about the storyline, logistics, and production across our own employees as well as designers we wanted to feature. K’Dee and her team made it happen. K’Dee worked with us from the very beginning, helping us refine our story and vision and worked with each individual to craft that story – by the end of the shoot, we all treated her like she worked for Shapeways. She has the patience and foresight necessary to be a great producer, and someone I would whole-heartedly recommend to others.” ~ Jeanne Hwang Lam, Marketing, Shapeways

Thanks, Shapeways, for inspiring us to push our boundaries!
